The Community Guidebook
1: The Owl & Oak Community vibe
First and foremost we want to outline our intentions for The Community, it is a safe space where parents can feel heard and be inspired.
We will:
👉 Tackle tough topics with humor
👉 Create laughter surrounding everyday parenting struggles
👉 Talk about failures in a positive light
👉 Celebrate everyday parenting moments - brushed your teeth today mama? We applaud you!
👉 Ask thought-provoking questions and encourage you to interact through The Community comments

We won’t:
👉 Badmouth children. They are our future, our everything. However challenging they can be, they will never be talked about negatively within The Community
👉 Badmouth parents. You are heard mammas and pappas. The Community will never shame anyone for their parenting approach
👉 Badmouth each other. Please respect The Community as a safe space for all. We will not condone trolling or any other negative behavior

And we expect you to follow The Community guidelines too. No exceptions.
2: The Community motto
Our Community motto is to ASK, LISTEN, SHARE.
3: Interaction
While adhering to The Community guidelines outlined above, we want to make it clear: The Community is a digital hub for you to share your highs and lows of parenting, learn from each other and also connect. We would love for you all to create bonds, whether online or offline. One way of doing so will be by commenting and interacting at the bottom of each Community post.
Our goals in terms of interaction are not about feeding The Community with information and ‘good’ advice but making sure that a big part of it is asking questions. We want to make sure that everybody feels seen and heard and it’s not just the audience listening to experts but that we ask our real, everyday parents just as much for their advice, thoughts and input like we do our community of experts.
We will make everybody feel like we are all on the same level and nobody is ever above the other. So we will feature and celebrate your brilliant ideas as much as the experts’. And we will encourage you to do the same. Perhaps you can learn from a bottle-feeding mamma if you’re breastfeeding and vice versa? And we’ll also ask you simple questions like ‘What made you smile today?’ as prompts to start a flow of insightful conversations. Think of us as your digital support group. We got you!
4: The Owl & Oak IG Community
Another way to ASK, LISTEN, SHARE, will be by engaging with our beautiful Instagram channel. Here you can keep up to date with all-things Owl & Oak as well as connect with others.
“We're so excited to share (digital) space with our parent community. We hope you find it to be a place of comfort and reprieve - where you can celebrate both the ordinary and extraordinary moments of parenthood. You'll find products that make your journey a bit easier, advice to carry you through the moments where feelings seem so big and connection with a community that meets you right where you are.”
Angeline, Social Media Manager, Owl & Oak
4: Support
We will support you, as a parent, in any way we can. We will provide up-to-date resources via The Community blog posts for parents who need a caring voice or hand when it comes to daily routines, breastfeeding, weaning and more. Mental health will be a recurring topic we discuss on The Community as we fully understand it can be compromised at different moments in different ways on any parenting journey.
5: Transparency
We will be fully transparent. We will tell you when we’ve failed as much as we will tell you when we’ve succeeded. We believe we can learn from failure and success equally. The Community will be a hub to keep up to date with Owl & Oak’s future plans, meet the team, see product processes and more. Everything we do we’ll update you. Within reason. After-work cocktails may not be included. Or will they?
6: Collaboration
And finally, we will collaborate with experts from psychologists, to early childhood development specialists, to you name it. We are not here to claim we are experts and that’s why we are bringing in the people who are. If you would like to collaborate with Owl & Oak in any way please email hello@owlandoak.co.
